Have you ever wanted to become a paddlesports guide or leader?
Why not join our team of experienced full time coaches and guides on our 6 week guide development course, including self catering accommodation and £820 of equipment you get to keep!
Our paddlesports guide development course is for anyone who has ever wanted to become a guide, and develop your personal and leadership skills. Our highly qualified and experienced staff will help progress your skills taking you on your own personalised pathway to becoming a paddlesports guide/leader.
Over our six week programme you will spend time stand up paddleboarding, whitewater kayaking and open canoeing on both open and moving water.
Itinerary (subject to learners needs)
After meeting up with our team and the others on the course, we will spend a few days out on the water exploring our basic paddling skills in canoe, kayak and stand up paddle boards and creating our individual action plans for the rest of the course. At the end of the week we will do a British Association of Ski Patrollers 2 day Outdoor First Aid Course.
Our week will start with a 2 day Royal Lifesaving Society National Water Safety Management Programme. Then 3 day of on water training including both the British Canoeing (BC) SUP module and the BC Foundation Safety and Rescue course.
We spend the whole week focusing on moving water in kayak and complete both our BC 3 star white water kayak and whitewater safety and rescue courses.
Our focus turns to open canoeing with a micro expedition, finishing the week with our BC 3 star open Canoe.
Leadership becomes our focus for week 5 looking in depth at leadership principals and doing our BC Paddlesports Leader Assessment.
As our course draws to a close we will do a BC Moderate Water Leader followed by looking to your forward journey discussing individual action plans.
Week 7 & 8: Optional
If you want more then we are offering the Paddlesport Instructor Course and Core Coach Award during these two extra weeks as additional qualifications. Extra fees will apply.
