Open Canoeing

A 2 - 3 hour instructed session at our base will provide the ideal introduction to this fantastic method of travel. No previous experience required, our experienced river guides will introduce you to the skills needed to paddle safely.
All you need to bring is your sense of adventure and clothes to be outside in - we will supply everything else.

Suitable for all abilities and ages this open canoe trip will begin with meeting your guide at our riverside base. They will choose the best venue for you - options include Loch Faskally, Loch Tay or the River Lyon and River Tay. During the half day journey in our open canoes you will paddle through some beautiful Perthshire scenery before returning to base.

This full day guided trip is suitable for all ages and abilities. Starting on Loch Tay we will teach you the necessary skills before journeying round the islands and possibly the Crannog on the loch at Kenmore before venturing onto the river, which will lead us back to our Activity Centre. During the day we will stop at a picturesque spot to enjoy the packed punch you have brought to the day (carried in watertight containers in the canoes).

Beyond Adventure's specific expertise is in the area of technical skills coaching in the whole range of paddlesport craft. Visit our open canoe coaching pages in the Paddlesports section of the website.

The open canoe, originating in North America, can be paddled solo, more usually as a doubles crew and occasionally as a family group.  The traditional canoe is one of the most versatile watercraft being equally at home on the calmest loch or in crashing white water.  Beyond Adventure use canoes to introduce clients to canoeing skills on both the Loch and River Tay.
Its a fantastic paddlesport for groups of mixed ages and abilities.
